I don’t want to debate but just to say that it is obvious that whichever way you feel about this election is a reflection of your perception of the candidates, their platforms and what is important in this world. They vary greatly.
We were discussing the political parties with my son and explaining that what they represent today is much different than years ago when we were younger. It used to be that the Democratic party was the working man and shared most of what is now considered “conservative values”. Our country was founded as a Christian country, where people could be free to practice that. The majority of people went to church. You could say what you believe and do business with who you chose without being accused of a hate crime People worked for what they had, not feeling entitled. It was not about being “politically correct”. It was about following standards and values.
The evangelicals who were a huge part of this vote do not hate anyone. We are trying to live according to the Christian faith, which follows the Word of God and the standards it teaches. Sanctity of life, sanctity of marriage, freedom to worship, freedom to speak the Word. We cannot bear the thought of a socialist, globalist society with these values and freedoms striped away. This has been the foundation of our country for hundreds of years. It is humanism, not Christianity, to say whatever you want to do is Ok.
This is the definition of Humanism: system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters. Humanist beliefs stress the potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasize common human needs, and seek solely rational ways of solving human problems
Humanism has crept into our societal thinking so that many who call themselves Christian really follow humanism more than the teachings of Christ (and do not even realize it). These are contrary perspectives. I am sure each thinks they are right. I guess this is how someone who calls themselves a Christian can support a candidate who favors partial birth abortion. To the rest of us it is appalling.
I do not think Hillary losing had anything at all to do with her being a woman. It was those fed up with politics as usual.
It was those who cannot bear the loss of religious freedom and moral absolutes.
It was those who do not want a socialistic society.
It was those who have nothing against immigrants but want them to be legal ones.
It was those who want respect for the police and military who risk their lives to protect ours and our freedoms.
It was those who want America to stay the country it was founded to be, not some version of the socialist / globalist philosophy that has infiltrated many other countries in Europe etc.
And the list goes on.
The people who voted for Trump are not haters or those who do not care- it is those who care deeply about the future for their children and grandchildren. It is just that the America they want may not be quite the same as what you want, if you have a more liberal bent.
We can all pray for the new President to surround himself with great advisors and make decisions that help all Americans have a more safe, prosperous, productive, life with basic freedoms preserved.
